A Place for You

Jesus tries to comfort his disciples by saying, “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am. You know the way to the place where I am going.” John 14:1-4 (NIV)

heaven“My Father’s house has many rooms…” With this message one might imagine a great palace of sorts where Jesus and the saints and sages throughout eternity dwell. Where our deceased loved ones reside in a state eternal peace. Where our beloved pets roam freely. Where all is provided for and everyone feels the immeasurable love of God. Still others might envision a place with many doors or portals that lead to perhaps another time and place, reality, existence or life experience. An actual place, ethereal world, or dream in which the heart and soul of man resides or continues to discover more of his eternal existence.

While I have explored the promise of an afterlife and what that might actually be like in my third volume to Pieces of the Puzzle, I thought I would invite your discussion here on whether or not you believe in an afterlife, and if so, what that might actually be like. I would love to learn of your thoughts on the subject.

If you believe an afterlife exists, what visions do you have of it, but also, how and why? What causes you think it so, holy scripture, sacred text, a near-death event, psychic visions, or something else. Please do not hesitate to share your thoughts with us here, as the more we know of each others beliefs and experiences on such subjects as birth, death, and that of an afterlife, the more we understand why we think, speak, and act as we do. For what motivates us in life stems largely from our beliefs and understandings of death. You are invited to leave your comments or questions in the reply box below to start a conversation on what may await us upon physical death.
